Monday Musings

Hello friends!

I read a little book this week called The Practice of the Presence of God, which talked about keeping our mind on the Lord throughout our days, and making a point to return it to Him when we realize that we've become distracted.  What a good exercise that is!  There is so much in our lives that we are blind to that really pulls us from centering our thoughts on God.  Music, TV shows, friends and websites, books that we read, things that we talk about.  I'm learning that if I offer up each activity to Him as I begin, I am much more careful with my His time and much more careful with my thoughts and responses.  That being said, it is so easy to get caught up in the routine of the day and go for hours without consciously thinking of Him.  Even though we may say things during that time like, "Praise the Lord!"... shortly after complaining about the weather.  Hmmm.  Here's a little poem that I jotted down during my quiet time last week to help me remember...

To keep You always in my mind,
To reckon myself dead,
To do what You would have me do,
In love to walk where led.
To be alive to righteousness,
To center thoughts on You,
To make my day a sacrifice,
An off'ring pure and true.

Before I go back to the kitchen for some "Make Ahead Monday" jobs, I'd like to mention that there is now a link on the blog where you can sign up for our new newsletter.  (It's on the left sidebar on top!!) I hope to send out a coupon code or special offer every so often, as well as some bits of encouragement or product info which may not appear on the blog.  You'll want to be sure to sign up, and tell your friends!!

Today's Happy Monday post...
To me, the first sign of spring is...
